A blessed weekend

In college at Mississippi State, I was fortunate to have a large group of friends that I met through my sorority. We were very close for our entire 4 years at State, and spent a lot of time together.

{This was us in 2006, our senior year}

Every year, our group still gets together for a summer trip, monthly dinner parties, and a Christmas party. Because of my crazy schedule, I rarely get to join them.

Labor Day weekend, I was able to travel down to Destin to play with these girls.
Unfortunately, Tropical Storm Lee had the same idea, so we spent most of our time snuggling on a pallet in the condo, but it was still good quality time.

Don't worry, the weather was not so bad that we weren't able to go out at all. We went to the outlet mall on Saturday, and had a lot of fun spent way too much money. By the time we got home it was time to start getting ready for dinner.

 {Linds and me - while it may appear that I got some sun, don't be fooled, I had a glass of wine}

We went to Mitchells  Fish Market for dinner. I had the Chesapeake Raw Oysters, Lobster Bisque, and Seafood Americana. It was delicious!

After dinner, we went out to Baytowne for a little while. However, these old ladies were home by 12:30.

Unfortunately, we had to leave on Sunday due to the bad weather. Despite the tropical storm, we really had a great time!

I feel truly blessed to have these girls in my life!

Happy 4th!

I hope you all had an amazing Independence Day!

Patrick was at work, so Declan and I had a lazy morning. We went to Patrick's grandparents to swim this afternoon. It was super hot, though, so we stayed inside!!

Declan wore the sweetest blue and red outfit. The shirt has a crab - perfectly appropriate for my crabby boy! :)

And he had the cutest little plaid swim trunks. I. DIE.

Mothers Day 2011

My first Mothers Day was more than I could ever imagine!
I told Patrick that Mothers Day may be my new favorite holiday...I just love it! Ha!

The morning started off great with flowers and breakfast in bed - french toast, fruit, and a mimosa - yummmm-oooo!
When I was finished eating, Patrick brought me a beautifully wrapped present. It was the sweetest picture book that he had made on iPhoto with lots of pictures of me and Declan.
After that, Declan and Patrick brought in ANOTHER present. I was so surprised! I opened it, and it was a David Yurman ring with an "aquamarine" stone. Aquamarine is Declan's birthstone, so it just meant so much to me! I absolutely love it, and every time I look at it, I think of my boys!

Then we all started getting ready for church. It was Declan's first time to go to church, so we were really excited. We sat in the cry room, and he did pretty well. We fed him right when we got there, and he mainly just looked around while we held him the whole time. I loved carrying him up to get communion and him getting blessed.

After church, we came home and immediately started getting ready for our get-together. We had my family and Patrick's family over for lunch. It was a beautiful day, so we spent a lot of time swinging on our front porch and just spending time together. We ate meat loaf, grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Patrick's parents got me a St. Declan medal with an inscription on the other side that said Declan's name and birthdate. I was so excited! It was so nice having everyone over to celebrate the moms and grandmoms!

Holiday Break

Top Ten Reasons Why Holiday Break Was Wonderful (in no particular order):

1. We were invited to lots of fun parties

{Tacky Christmas party, 2010}

2. I got to spend lots of time with some of my favorite ladies

3. We saw our precious baby's face, hands, feet on ultrasound, in 4D! I may be biased, but he is the cutest thing I have ever seen!

4. We shopped for family and friends for Christmas. In Christmases past, we were always both in school, so we didn't ever get to buy for our loved ones the way we wanted to. This year, we had so much fun buying for the people we love!

5. I spent lots of time with my mom

{We even accidentally wore matching shirts}

5. I spent even more time with my amazing husband, who I grow more and more thankful for every day

6. My belly finally started to get big! It seemed like forever before I looked pregnant, instead of just fat!

7. We worked on baby boys room a little bit. I have been planning on refinishing my great aunts dresser for his room, and we finally got it started!

{After - still needs handles and some touch-ups}

8. We decided on a name for our baby boy! More to come in the next post!

9. Baby boy got so many sweet presents from his favorite aunts, grandparents, and great-grandparents

{Cute little tennis shoe booties from his Aunt Allie}

10. I was able to rest so much. While it feels like we were really busy, I really did sleep a lot. I needed that so much having just finished my surgery rotation, and about to start Ob/Gyn!

I LOVE Christmas! And I LOVE Christmas cards! So, I've been super excited that Shutterfly is offering 50 free Christmas cards to bloggers. Shutterfly always has the most adorable cards, and I am so excited to use them this year for our family Christmas card. Some of my favorites this year are:

The thing that I think is great about Shutterfly is that they have something for everyone - they have everything from super traditional to very modern. So whatever your taste, Shutterfly has something you will LOVE!

Another great option Shutterfly offers is their calendars. Ever since I was little, my grandmother has been making a family calendar to give to everyone in their stockings. Every Christmas morning, we all open our calendars together and flip through the pictures together. The calendar always has the best pictures of our family from the year. I hope to carry on this tradition, and I will definitely use Shutterfly to make the perfect calendar!

So visit Shutterfly to find your perfect Christmas card, and maybe even take a peek at their adorable calendars!
